As the CEO of Designed Learning, Pat Smith is responsible for running all facets of the business. Pat has a proven executive management track record and over 25 years of experience driving sales and profit growth in the technology and performance improvement industries. Pat takes a vision and makes it reality through sound strategy development and fierce customer focus. He intuitively sees the threads of opportunity that wind through an organization and its markets,
brings them together into a coherent whole, helps others extend their thinking, and drives material business advantage. He is a personable leader that inspires action while at the same time, is grounded in key metrics that lever the business. Respected as a credible voice in the industry, finding strategic partners, and establishing long-standing client relationships, Pat adds value wherever he goes.
Pat has held a number of high-tech senior management positions in the performance improvement industry over the past twenty years. Prior to joining Designed Learning, Pat was CEO of Career Systems International (CSI), a global employee engagement and career development solutions firm. He previously served as senior vice-president at Ernst & Young Intellinex, an early pioneer in the content transformation and eLearning segments of the market, and Development Dimensions International (DDI), where he was responsible for the global learning and development business. Smith also served as CEO of Behavioral Science
Technology (BST), where he led the transformation to an enterprise-focused company and led the firm to triple-digit growth and rapid international expansion.
Smith holds a Master’s degree in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University and a Bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Puget Sound. He has completed executive education programs at Harvard University, CalTech and Southern Methodist University, and is certified as an executive coach by Marshall Goldsmith. He lives in Southern California and is an avid coach of youth sports.
